Foreigners in Poland

The draft Act on Foreigners in Poland

New regulations that are to make life easier for foreigners working and studying in Poland

On 8 November the Polish Sejm adopted the new draft Act on Foreigners introducing numerous facilitations for foreigners working and studying in Poland, and those who want to legalize their stay. Earlier on, on 22 October, the parliamentary commission for internal affairs supported the government bill on foreigners, consisting of 520 articles.

The draft Act on Foreigners introduces a number of solutions concerning the legalization of stay that are more favorable for foreigners than the current regulations (e.g. extending the temporary residence and work permit). It also streamlines the procedure of issuing a temporary residence permit.

Rafal Rogala, Head of the Office for Foreigners, points out that the Act adjusts provisions of Polish law to the EU standards. The new draft Act on Foreigners is planned to enter into force on 1 May 2014.
